We are a small business Art Studio located in the country outside of Franklinton, North Carolina. We specialize in both the Fine Arts and Fiber Arts. M Theresa Brown and Stephen Filarsky are a wife and husband team who combined their businesses into one and is collectively known as Filarsky Brown Art Studio LLC. The Silk Thread is a subsidiary of FBAS!

Our larger studio can accommodate anywhere from 8-20 students depending on the class we are holding. The smaller, leather studio is perfect for a few private students interested in the Ecoprint on Leather workshops that we do. Both studios are accessed via steps..

Workshop Policies:

We try to keep this easy to understand but there is some legal language within the terms required by our insurance! Please read everything carefully to avoid any confusion.

We travel a lot to various destinations around the country to teach our workshops.  When a class is "In-Studio" at our Franklinton location, we teach two types of workshops:  Classes and Private. Our workshop policies are designed to avoid confusion! Please read the basic policy under each before registering for a class or seeking a private session!

Workshop Classes:   The majority of our classes are one day in length, generally from 10:00 am -4:00 pm.. The registration fee for in-studio classes will include the necessary supplies needed for the workshop. All of the one day classes are paid in full at the time of registration. Please check your calendars for the date of each workshop as if the student cancels, the registration fees are NOT refundable.  You may, however, send a replacement to take your spot. If the The Silk Thread cancels the workshop, all registration fees are refunded to the student..

Private Classes: Private classes can be 1-3 days long and  fees and dates are agreed upon by each party and confirmed via email Because that date has been set aside for the private workshop, a NON-refundable deposit by the student is required to secure the transaction. If The Silk Thread cancels the workshop, the whole deposit is refunded.

​MEDIA RELEASE

​

When registering for a class, you give The Silk Thread Studio the right to use images of you, or your work, purely for publicity, promotional and marketing materials relating to Studio programming. Your name will never be used, unless we specifically ask for your permission.

If, for any reason, you feel very strongly against having any images used, please contact me in writing or via email (theresa@thesilkthread.com) following your registration, so that I may keep it on file. If you have any questions about any workshop please do contact me via email theresa@thesilkthread.com before registering so we can ensure, as best as possible, that you are registering for a class that you will enjoy.

After registering, the organizers accept no liability in assuring that the class meets your expectations

PROPERTY DAMAGE

The Silk Thread Studio reserves the right to refuse service, to charge student for damaged studio property, and is not responsible for students' lost or damaged property.

​Upon purchasing a place in any of our classes, you agree that we are not  responsible for any theft, injury, or illness that could occur in or around our premises or in our workshops.
