Ecoprint on Leather Maker's class is a relaxed 5 day workshop held at the Tryon Arts and Crafts School,
Ecoprint on Leather: This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience. Ecoprinting uses the tannins, shapes and properties of Nature's leaves, plants and flowers to imprint designs onto assorted substrates such as silk, wool, linen and other fibers. Leather can be a particular challenge. So in this workshop, you will learn the techniques of creating imprints on leather with designs in color and natural.
What will you be doing? Just in time for the Holidays! You’ll learn to ecoprint on lambskin. sheep and top grain leather. Ecoprinting is a form of botanical printing where you'll learn to use the tannin derived from Mother Nature's plants to print their images on leather. Use your newly imprinted pieces to start exploring basic construction techniques to turn your leather designs into beautiful handbags, clothing, jewelry, and even shoes. I'll share tips to types of leather, care, maintenance, sealants, softening and care. We'll explore hand and machine sewing on leather. We'll also use a basic die cutting machine to make quick templates for earrings and bracelets in leather.
What will you need to bring? I will supply all the leather and construction hardware. You bring your leaves
